We've all felt that relief when an AI tool handles a tedious summary or a long email, but it turns out the US House of Representatives is feeling it too. According to spending records through March 31, the House spent over $113,740 on AI tools, and a whopping 90% of that—$100,580 across 798 transactions—went straight to ChatGPT. Anthropic's Claude came in second with $13,160 from 37 transactions. Interestingly, Democratic offices spent $54,165, which is about three times more than the $15,782 spent by Republicans.

Staffers are using these tools for everything from drafting memos and summarizing bills to prepping for hearings and writing social media posts. It's pretty wild to see exactly which tools are shaping the way our laws are researched and written.
